AICS Director Marco Riccardo Rusconi, accompanied by the Head of the Human Development Office, Annamaria Iotti, and Head of Office Teresa Savanella, visited the AICS Office in Kampala one year after its opening.

The visit provided an opportunity to meet with the Office staff and to discuss future perspectives for the Agency across the various priority areas of intervention for Italian Cooperation in Uganda.

As part of the mission, the Director opened and took part in the PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) training session organized in collaboration with UN Women.

The session represented an important opportunity to strengthen understanding of PSEA principles and the responsibilities required to ensure a safe and respectful working environment. Through interactive discussions and practical case studies, participants explored key concepts, ethical standards, and appropriate behaviors that contribute to building a culture of integrity, dignity, and accountability in the workplace and in all professional interactions.

The training also provided an opportunity to give visibility to the AICS campaign for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which this year is titled “Safe online, safe offline”, reaffirming the importance of protecting women and girls in the digital space as well.

As emphasized by Director Rusconi, “this activity is part of the Agency’s strong and prioritized commitment to promoting and achieving effective gender equality, including within our own organization, so that no victim of harassment, abuse, or gender-based violence is left alone, unheard, or without protection. The Agency’s attention is firm and unwavering in adopting ever-higher standards and increasingly effective operational procedures for the prevention of and response to harassment, abuse, and sexual exploitation, in order to safeguard beneficiaries as well as the Agency’s staff and collaborators.”
