Under the Planet pillar, the Green Cities Initiative in Action for Africa stands out, reflecting Italy’s commitment to closely collaborate with Uganda to turn urban waste into resources, modernize food markets, and build sustainable urban systems. Italian Cooperation’s actions also include support for reforestation initiatives, aimed at restoring degraded landscapes and strengthening environmental resilience.
In Soroti, AICS launched the EU-Delegated project “Reforest” with new field offices. The initiative focuses on forest conservation, biodiversity, wildlife corridors, and the development of sustainable value chains. In line with the priorities of Italian Cooperation, AICS’ environmental protection efforts aim to assist Uganda in complying with EU regulations on deforestation.
